The Death of Film: Exhibition Poster

1 comment:

  1. Image Title: Melt

    1.Composition:
a.Orientation: The photograph in this image was shot head on and the text around the image is oriented to create a poster aesthetic.

b.Lighting: I used a light comparable to a stark lighting of a room as close to reality as possible.

    c.Visual Design Elements (spot/line, shape/pattern, emphasis/balance):
The burnt film in a way framed the piece of mechanical, computer scrap in an abstract way, all arranged. It created a triangular type of shape that is cut off.

    2.Aboutness & Motivations & Method:
I first created the work of art that I hung on the wall of my basement. I hung this artwork to make it seem as if it could be or was hanging in an art gallery. The lighting is meant to create the feeling as if the viewer was simply walking by the work of art in a gallery. I then added the text to make it seem like a brochure for a gallery show, a fake one.

3.Context: The poster creates the illusion of a gallery show. I put the date and time of our critique on the image in order to create an actual time and place for this fake gallery show to take place.

4.Interpretation: This could be about a woman’s body, in particular a breast. I would like to think that my subconscious creation has the ability to be interpreted in many ways, that being one of them.

5.Evaluation: This was well received in class. They liked the idea of doing a series spin off of this.

6.Extension: I think it would be very interesting to create more of this “fake” gallery artwork, possibly getting numerous people to show up for a gallery that was not taking place, in effect making them the artwork.
