1.Composition: a.Orientation: The subject in the image is shot from behind looking out into the ocean. The gradient rainbow and black lines through the image create a visual grid for the viewer.
b.Lighting: The lighting in this image was natural sunlight.
c.Visual Design Elements (spot/line, shape/pattern, emphasis/balance): The lines of rainbow and black create a visual grid that constructs multiple geometric shapes. There is a certain unbalanced harmony that the shapes create.
2.Aboutness & Motivations & Method: I overlaid gradient rainbow lines throughout the image to mock/exaggerate the rays of the sun and the possible lens flare that occurs when shooting into it. The black lines of tape were added by hand after the image was printed. It is meant to be an image that combines the pleasure of life and dreams with a certain aspect of darkness and bondage of reality.
3.Context: The photo fits into the rest of the series by having something added onto the image by hand after being printed. It also fits with the dream and fantasy motif of the series.
4.Interpretation: As mentioned above the image makes an intruiging visual display of line and shape that through use of bright rainbow color and dark black take creates a dichotomy and juxtaposition of pleasure and pain.
5.Evaluation: This image was successful. I think the simplicity makes it visually appealing.
6.Extension: This was a fun series for me and I plan to do more along these lines.
1.Composition: a.Orientation: The subject in the image is shot slightly from behind from a low perspective with a large amount of space.
b.Lighting: The lighting in this image was natural sunlight.
c.Visual Design Elements (spot/line, shape/pattern, emphasis/balance): The direction the subject is looking in draws the viewer’s attention to look in the same place she is looking. The white drawings lead the viewer’s eye up the remainder of the image.
2.Aboutness & Motivations & Method: The white triangular drawings represent a certain aspect of hope and wonder as they juxtapose the clouds and lay in the view of the subject.
3.Context: The photo fits into the rest of the series by having something added onto the image by hand after being printed. It also fits with the dream and fantasy motif of the series.
4.Interpretation: The planned interpretation of this image is to evoke a sense of hope sprouting from the subject. The drawn shapes oppose the clouds and have almost a childish element of wonder and playfulness.
5.Evaluation: This image was successful. I think the simplicity in it makes it visually appealing also.
6.Extension: This was a fun series for me and I plan to do more along these lines.
