1.Composition: a.Orientation: The orientation of this photograph shot from below in order to get the partial silhouette of the sculpture.
b.Lighting: The lighting is crucial in this image. The natural sunlight is what makes the image different and beautiful. It is key in the way it shines through the class creating beauty out of light.
c.Visual Design Elements (spot/line, shape/pattern, emphasis/balance): There is a balance between positive and negative space in the image. The bottles are somewhat symmetrical and the lines of the window pains help to direct the eye.
2.Aboutness & Motivations & Method: I was shooting the artwork around me and knew that the see-through nature of the glass bottles would create a beautiful effect with the sunlight coming through.
3.Context: The context of this image is an artwork that has been re-appropriated from someone else and has been recreated in a sense after I took a photograph of it. The images are all of Detroit and this was one of the interesting things I decided to shoot.
4.Interpretation: The image was accepted by other students. They agreed that the lighting and shapes the sculpture create are good visual aids and that the image works as a whole.
5.Evaluation: Based on the critique I am pleased with this image. It is abstract enough to have viewers question what it is.
6.Extension: I like the idea of shooting light through other objects. It was suggested by a few classmates to make a series of these sort of images.
